At the recent Senior Presentation night two Sharks were recognised for their service to the Club by being awarded Life Membership.
Matthew (MOD) has completed over 20 seasons of cricket, joining South Ringwood in 1998 and continuing to Warranwood CC in 2004.
Currently playing 250+ plus games for Warranwood.
During MOD’s 20+ years of service he has taken on many roles. Vice President, Treasurer, general committee, Junior Committee, junior coach & senior captain. See below for MOD’s achievements. Coaching Junior boys coach Junior girls assistant coach (Inaugural year) **Junior coaching for multiple years Records show that he began coaching Junior Teams in 2018/19 when he coached U10 Tiger Sharks and was the assistant coach of the inaugural Warranwood Girls team in that year. MOD continued coach for a number of years including the U12/8 and U12/5. (There is a possibility of further captaincy & committee roles as not all record/reports were available at the time of writing this nomination)
MOD has contributed to both South Ringwood & Warranwood CC for over 20 years. He is in individual who has dedicated many years of his time to our club both Senior & Junior taking on various roles and always giving his 100%. MOD also played a valuable role during Covid in organising the Virtual Junior Presentations. MOD is a very passionate Shark and is an invaluable member of Warranwood Cricket Club
Started playing cricket at Parkwood back in 1993/94, playing bottom age under 16s. Played seniors at Parkwood from 1996/97 all the way through to merger and then Warranwood from its first year until 2006. Russell had a break from 2006 when his daughter was born but before he when on his cricket sabbatical, he was awarded the 1XI cap # 15.
He recommenced at the club in 2017/18 in seniors playing through to current year and also been involved with vets.
Coached 2nd year back from 2019/20 in both juniors’ boys and junior girls which includes 12/2, 14/1, 14/1, 16/1, 16/1, sat morning and 14A and 16A on the Friday night for Box Hill Reporter in 2021/22 and 2022/23 respectively, plus involved in coaching the girls teams.
Played in 2XI Premiership team 2018/19
Made his first 100 in 2023/24.
Has won 3 x vets Grand Finals
Games played is significant across all age groups, of 177.
Several years on the Senior and Junior Committee
He won the Margaret Imms award for the best Senior Club Person in 2022/23, and he also won the Best Junior Club person 2020/21. To win those awards across the Junior and Senior clubs just shows what a respected and valued member of the club he is.
