Appointment of New Club Senior Coach

Warranwood Cricket Club would like to announce the appointment of Mark Farrell as senior coach for the next two seasons.

Taking on the assistant coaching role in season 2022/23. Mark forged strong relationships with the playing group and will now take that to the next level.

Mark will bring a wealth of experience to our club being a level 2 qualified coach. His knowledge and passion for cricket will be immensely valuable to our playing group, young & old. We are extremely excited to have him on board.

The club is wrapped to have Mark, Kelly & the family continue their involvement at Warranwood. Good Luck!

Following the announcement, Mark had this to say...

G’day Sharks,

Now that the official announcement has been released, a couple of words…

Thanks for the honour, privilege, and responsibility of leading the Sharks cricket program. I returned to the club because I wanted to make a difference and help. I’m very excited about the opportunity to help build the club to become a power in the RDCA.

To David Johnson, thanks for your passion and commitment to the club over your time as coach (and player too, of course). Your support for me in re-joining the club in a coaching role was exceptional and I’m very grateful. I aim to be just as supportive to my coaching team as you were with me. I hope you enjoy the freedom of just playing next season and have a great year.

I believe the club has never been better positioned for long-term, sustained success. We have the best junior program in the RDCA (officially awarded this week) , feeding quality young cricketers and people through into senior ranks, and we started to see this talent emerge in 22/23. It will continue to reveal itself for years to come.

And the addition of a women’s team is a significant milestone and will be massive for the club community. Let's get behind it.

Coaching structure - Updates…

The full coaching team is still to be finalised, but I’m excited to announce that we’ve locked in 2 key roles…

Alan Love (Assistant Coach). Lovey will be a fantastic addition, great at driving standards at training, plus assisting with planning and execution of sessions.

Dimitri Mascarenhas (Specialist Coach - part-time). A former England T20/ODI player, Dimitri is a great fella, one of the best people I’ve known in cricket. And he’s very keen to help us. Beyond his 18-year professional playing career, Dimitri has held a long list of coaching roles, including with the New Zealand national team, Melbourne Renegades and in English county cricket. Details are to be confirmed but at this stage we’re looking to run masterclasses (bowling and batting) plus he’ll attend pre-season sessions to provide one-on-one coaching.
